Abstract
Postural imbalance is generated in several bone structures when one side of the body presents greater tensegrity in a muscle group and, at the same time, greater elasticity in its counterpart. Objective: To identify the results of the application of the Pilates method in the administrative-teaching staff with postural imbalance of the Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil. Materials and methods: It is based on a quasi-experimental pretest design, with two working groups of non-random selection. Results: Statistically significant improvements (p<0.05) were evidenced in all postural imbalance angles and core isometric strength, except in AVH/I (°), AHE/D (°) and AHE/I (°). Likewise, in the final/basal measurement of the group of 16 sessions, statistically significant improvements were evidenced (p<0.05), in all the angles of isometric strength of the core, and postural unbalance, except in CF/D (°), AVH/I (°), AHE/D (°), AHE/I (°) and LL/D (°). Conclusion: The application of the Pilates method has a positive impact on postural alignment in women aged 30 to 65 years, with a program of 12 and 16 sessions.
