¿Qué es hablar bien?: análisis de los resultados de una encuesta

Abstract

Defined since its origins as a descriptive, not a prescriptive science, linguistics has always\nignored, and even looked down on, the criteria of correctness in speech. However these\nhave not disappeared and even less lost their influence on every speaker of the language, as\nwell as on some institutions. They continue to be systematically esteemed in the �normative\ngrammar� and they are transformed into rigorous criteria in every school manual. This\npaper reviews the first results from a questionnaire about what is considered speaking well,\ngiven to 50 speakers of different occupations in Mérida.
