Abstract
Estudio de la obra del sacerdote jesuita Francisco Mercier y Guzmán (s. XVIII) que establece la forma en que encaró su análisis de la lengua aimara. Inevitablemente, se observa la perspectiva crítica que Mercier tiene sobre la obra de Ludovico Bertonio (s.XVII). El autor afirma que, pese a esa posición exagerada respecto a su predecesor, la obra de este estudioso jesuita hace aportes valiosos para la actual comprensión de la gramática del aimara y argumenta describiendo y analizando estos aportes.
This article studies the work of Francisco Mercier y Guzmán, Jesuit priest, in order to establish how he faced his analysis of the aimara language. Inevitably, the critic perspective he has towards Bertonio's work is observed. The author states that, in spite of this exaggerated position towards his predecessor, the studies of this Jesuit researcher had worthy contributed to today's comprehension of aimara grammar describing and analyzing such contributions.
