Abstract
Mining activity in Peru represents 10% of the Gross Product, however, this activity generates waste and increases the levels of contaminants. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to identify the concentration levels of heavy metals in the waters of the San Marcelo Ramp CIA de Minas Sillustani S.A., then compare with the environmental quality standards and the maximum permissible limits in force in the Peruvian state. The research was descriptive and non-experimental. The physical-chemical parameters were determined with a multiparameter and the concentration of chemical elements by means of the induced plasma spectroscopic technique. The results show that the concentration of heavy metals analyzed (As, Cd, Cu, Hg, Se and Zn), present in the three sampling points, are above the maximum permissible limits established by D.S 004-2017- MINAM, therefore, we can affirm that the water resource of the San Marcelo Ramp is contaminated with the mentioned heavy metals and that it is extremely harmful to the health of living beings.
