Ciencias proposed recently a revision of the impact the Colombian scientific community has had, and the acknowledgement it has received from the hegemonic centers from around the world. Collected data show that only 0.2% is the contribution percentage from Colombia to worldwide production (Elsiever, 2014). This may be due to the fact that 86.4% of scientific papers is published by Colombian journals. Out of them, only 13.8% journals are indexed by WoS or Scopus, while 45% journals are indexed by Publindex. Based on this, we offer a critical view from the Rhela editorial board (UPTC, Tunja). Epistemological, geopolitical, and ideological implications found in scientific knowledge are offered, and Latin American considerations are given.
