Actividad antifúngica in vitro de extractos de Hura crepitans L. (Euphorbiaceae) frente a Candida albicans

Abstract

An evaluation of in vitro antifungal activity in hexanoic, ethanolic and acetonic plant extracts from Hura crepitans L., leaves was made. The study was developed on agar disc diffusion method against C. albicans B-385. Only ethanolic extract was found to inhibit the development of C. albicans with minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) <20 mg/µl. Phytochemical screening on ethanolic extract showed saponin and steroidal compounds, which are commonly present in this species. These results could contribute to further biological research on H. crepitans, since a first antifungal activity of ethanoic plant extract has been reported in this study.
