DEPRESIÓN E IDEACIÓN SUICIDAD EN FUNCIONARIOS DE GENDARMERÍA PERTENECIENTES A GUARDIA ARMADA DEL COMPLEJO PENITENCIARIO DE ACHA Y CIP CRC

Abstract

El presente estudio tiene por objetivo principal, realizar una descripción de los niveles de depresión e ideación suicida en funcionarios de gendarmería del complejo de Acha y del CIP-CRC de la ciudad de Arica y Parinacota. La investigación fue de tipo cuantitativa, de corte transversal, y se llevó a cabo en una muestra conformada por 26 funcionarios. Para este estudio se aplicaron los siguientes test: Inventario de depresión de Beck (BDI-II) y la escala de ideación suicida de Beck (ISB Beck, Kovacs & Weissman, 1979). Así mismo se hace un énfasis especial en relación a variables sociodemográficas y a los turnos de trabajo. Estos indicadores fueron comparados para mostrar la relación de las dimensiones del cuestionario de depresión y el cuestionario de ideación suicida y como estos inciden entre sí. Según los resultados obtenidos en la investigación, se observa que la depresión es distinta de las variaciones habituales del estado de ánimo y de las respuestas emocionales breves a los problemas de la vida cotidiana. Esta puede convertirse en un problema de salud serio, cuando es de larga duración e intensidad moderada a grave, y puede causar incluso sufrimiento y alteraciones en las actividades laborales.

The following study has for purpose, the realization of a description on the levels of depression and suicidal tendencies in prision officers from Acha and CIP-CRC complex from the Arica and Parinacota region. Our research was quantitative, of a transversal form, and it was made by a universe of 26 workers. For this study the following test were applied. Beck's depression inventory (BDI-II), Beck's suicidal ideation scale (ISB Beck, Kovacs & Weissman, 1979). On this matter a special emphasis must be done to the relation on the socio-demographic and the workshifts. These indicators were compared to proved the relation between both test and how this work between each other. According to the results of the investigation, it appears that depression is different from the usual changes in mood and brief emotional responses to the problems of everyday life. This can become a serious health problem when it is long lasting and moderate to severe intensity, and may even cause suffering and changes in work activities.
