The article places critical thinking in Latin American thought and culture. Within this perspective, the work helps to understand a little of the Bolivian and Ecuadorian legal systems, mainly when it comes to expressions such as colonialism and harmony with nature. Finally, it verifies if the traditional matrix continues to prevail in cases that affect nature rights and how critical theory can contribute. Keywords: latin american critical thinking; nature rights; andean legal systems
