dc.description.abstractTraditional Optical Transport Networks such as Sonet/SDH are still so much expensive, as a technological alternative for those Enterprises that need to implement their own connectivity infrastructure. The present document, aims to demonstrate that less expensive technologies, particularly Optical Ethernet, may be an attractive alternative, considering new improved features oriented to provide high-reliability, high-availability and high-performance core networks. The selection of this technology would also produce potential savings in CAPEX and OPEX.
