Social work is an academic and professional discipline committed to promoting social change, social justice, and the well-being of people and communities through social intervention and strengthening support networks. In this sense, the objective of this research was to provide a deep and exhaustive vision of the discipline of social work and its fundamental role in intervention against gender violence. To achieve this, a qualitative approach was used through documentary research. The results obtained highlight the importance of the social worker as a mediator in situations of gender violence. It is evident that their intervention is crucial to provide support, advice and resources to affected people, as well as to promote awareness and sensitization about this problem in society. The research concludes that although the challenges in this intervention are significant, they are not unattainable. In fact, it is in this context that social work demonstrates its real and significant potential to generate positive and lasting change in the eradication of gender violence.
