We also discuss the implications for the articles published in the last decade, and how more clinical and epidemiological information concerning <ns4:italic>Babesia</ns4:italic> is still required. The findings of this article would be useful to define research priorities about <ns4:italic>Babesia</ns4:italic> and diagnose the important of scientific production on this pathogen. </ns4:p>
