Abstract.
Clinical histories of 1570 patients were reviewed at the Parasitology service at the I.B.B.A. (Bolivia). between 1982 to 1988. Among 74 children younger than 12 years there were: 70 with cutaneous and mucocutaneous leishmaniasis and with visceral leishmaniasis. The origen of the children were investigated in two endemic zones: the Yungas (old colonization) and Alto Beni (new colonization) and the age, number of lesions, predominance of the first lesions over the face, laboratory result (indiret immunofluorescent antibody test, intradermal test, culture, smears) and treatment were recorded.
