dc.description.abstractThe plastics processing industry was the first consumer of electric energy in Santafe de Bogota during 1997.  This sector was the second in total energy costs from 1994 to 1997. The Mines and Energy Department of Colombia encourages the industrial energy save by means of several strategies. Two of them are Demand Side Management and Rational Energy Use. In general, the industry does not work with tools as basic as energy audits for this purpose. Here we propose a specific research project aimed to determine the quantitative energy performance of the industrial group mentioned above.
