Abstract
Efficacy of rehabilitation and isokinetic exercise in patients with partial arthroscopic meniscectomy. In the osteomuscular system, the knee is one of the part of the inferior members that is most affected, with the consequent limitation or incapacity for deambulation. Objective: To determine the efficacy of rehabilitation and isokinetic exercise before and after partial arthroscopic meniscectomy. Methodology: Prospective, longitudinal research. Pre and post-operatory rehabilitation therapy was applied to 15 patients and rehabilitation therapy plus isokinetic exercise was applied to 17 patients. They were evaluated (starting-pre-post-final) by the SF-36 scale, the Hughston clinic knee, Pain Visual Evaluation, knee articular arc, cuadriceps trophism and muscular strength. Results: Statistical analysis (Student t, Wilcoxon test, chi square) was done by SPSS 15.0. Males were 59.4%, urban inhabitants 81%, Pain Visual Evaluation significantly decreased from 7.5 to 1 point, and both groups improved the articular amplitude and the muscular strength. Cuadriceps trophism increased in patients with isokinetic exercise. Conclusion: Early start of rehabilitation treatment plus or without isokinetic exercise, before and after the surgery, makes sure an efficient recuperation of the patient. INTRODUCCION.
