The training of nurses in Venezuela in the first half of the 20th century represents a phenomenon of socio-historical interest for the understanding of the first efforts of institutional and educational consolidation. The objective of this essay is to investigate some events that contributed to the educational institutionalization of Venezuelan nursing, which has gone through a process of evolution and associated changes associated with historical/social, political, economic phenomena and mainly with the emergence of democracy. The determining factors were the social investment in the health system and the creation of the National School of Nurses (ENE) in 1940.
