The deficiency in healthcare is reflected in marginalized sectors of society, such as rural areas. The objective of this research was to determine the main causes of migration due to lack of medical care among inhabitants of the Puesto Tunal community. This study was conduct-ed using a quantitative and non-experimental methodological approach, as no variables were manipulated; instead, phenomena were observed and analyzed in their natural con-text. The study of 50 migrants revealed that 56% migrate primarily due to healthcare deficiencies. The main destination was Tarija City (72%). Migration was mostly medium-term (26% for six months). While 44% reported good treatment, 58% rated medical conditions as regular. It is concluded that the main cause of migration is the lack of medical care, compounded by the lack of work and low economic resources, which contribute to the increasing healthcare deficit.
