Abstract
About 15 species of mammals are restricted to Bolivia and can be described as endemic to that country. However, the taxonomic identity of some of the taxa is still uncertain. Two areas are conspicuous for a high concentration of endemic species: the transition zone between the humid forests of the Yungas and the dry valleys of Cochabamba; and the transitional deciduous forests in central Santa Cruz Department.
