Actualización de la lista de murciélagos identificados en las áreas protegidas administradas por el Centro de Investigaciones y Servicios Ambientales ECOVIDA

Abstract

The updating the handling plans of the protected areas (Planes de Manejo), the planning of monitoring strategies and the socialization of the results are the pillars for the protection of free living species and the ecosystems that they inhabit. However, the absence of information of bats species, on the handling plans, of areas protected in the West of Cuba, obstruct the existence actions of conservation and handling focused to these group. The objective of this work was the fulfilling of the list of bat species present in the protected areas administrated by ECOVIDA using bibliographical revision and data incorporated as result of research projects (reports, papers). As a result of this work were corrected forty-two species distributed in the identified handling plans. Seventeen substitutions were carried out, nine orthographic errors were corrected and twenty-one species were incorporate to the new list of bats in the areas. Those new additions were not identified previously in these areas. A list of fourteen species was incorporated as management proposals for this group in the identified protected areas. The species were selected according their distribution, risk category or the importance of its ecological role (A. jamaicensis, forest builder, seeds disperser and M. redmani, pollinizer).
