Abstract

This article analyzes the relationship between nuns committed to the apostolic life and women from the grassroots sectors of Ecuadorian cities. Together, these women undertook a wide range of activities such as conventional workshops for social promotion, creation of grassroots ecclesial communities, and solidarity actions. This process led to the establishment of the women's movement of grassroots organizations in Ecuador, which gained importance in the 1980s. The organizational experiences in the Riobamba diocese and the South Quito vicariate are examined.
