Abstract

Dr. Pedro Angel de Jesus Rincon Gutierrez conceived and carried out a democratic, humanistic, cientific and socially commited University in Merida City and Los Andes Region. He showed the sublimity of Alma Mater, the reason and being of the community, of autorictas and autonomy of the University. He made the academy, arts and letters great and usefull for the man´s transcendence and the advancement of the Nation. He also acted in public life. He earned the tittle of Rector of Rectors together with Dr. Francisco De Venanzi and in particular, the tittle of Friend Rector, Human Rector and Magnificent Rector. Tributes, portraits in Institutions, a statue in the lobby of the Rectory and good memories make his name and work enduring.
