Abstract

The placement of dental implants in edentulous patients, allows for new prosthetic treatment options that improve the levels of stability, retention, mastication, phonetics and aesthetics of the total dentures. A case of a female patient 61 years old, who came for consultation to the graduate Oral Rehabilitation, Dentistry’s Faculty, Universidad de Los Andes, referring discomfort with your total lower denture, which does not provide the stability for chewing and speaking. After conducting the necessary studies, we planned and indicated the placement of 4mini dental implants in the chin area of the lower jaw to the subsequent placement of overdenture. This report showed that the mini dental implants placement and prosthetic rehabilitation with a total Overdenture in patients with severe residual ridge resorption, is an excellent alternative to prosthetic treatment, ensuring success and maintaining it over the years. It is estimated that the rate of success of oral rehabilitation is of 83.9% to 97.5%.
