The main objective of this study is to describe the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic performance in students. The aim is to explore the importance of developing good stimulation in emotional intelligence and how this can affect academic performance. The research uses a quantitative approach with a non-experimental descriptive and correlational design. The results were analyzed using SPSS software and Pearson’s correlation (r) was used to find the relationships between the variables. The findings revealed a weak positive correlation (r = 0.183*), suggesting that there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and academic performance. In other words, the hypothesis proposed is accepted that the greater the emotional intelligence, the greater the academic performance. However, it is important to highlight that not all students who have emotional intelligence skills achieve high academic performance. This indicates that there are other factors that can influence academic performance and that should be considered in future research.
