Reserva Inmovilizada Iténez: primer listado de vertebrados

Abstract

RESERVA INMOVILIZADA ITENEZ: INITIAL LIST OF VERTEBRADES Se han identificado hasta el momento 643 especies de vertebrados en la Reserva Inmovilizada Itenez (RII) de las que 326 son aves, 185 peces, 67 mamiferos, 37 anfibios y 28 reptiles. Del total de especies observadas, 14 estan incluidas en el Apendice I del CITES y 100 en el 11, 11 en las listas de la UICN (ocho vulnerables y tres en peligro) y 46 en el libro Rojo de Vertebrados de Bolivia (LRVB). Encontramos numerosas especies consideradas en peligro como Ara glaucogularis, Ara militaris, Harpia harpyja, Panthera onca, Priodontes maximus, Chrysocyon brachyurus, Pteronura brasiliensis, Myrmecophaga tridactyla, Inia geoffrensis, Blastocerus dichotomus, Melanosuchus niger y Podocnemis expansa.Este trabajo constituye el primer aporte relativo a la riqueza de especies en la RII y su estado de amenaza. Segun avancen los estudios, se producira un aumento importante en el numero de especies presentadas en este trabajo. ABSTRACT To date, 643 vertebrate species have been identified in the Reserva Inmovilizada Itenez (RII): Of those species, 326 were birds, 18.5 fishes, 67 mammals, 37 amphibians, and 28 reptiles. Of the species identified, 14 are included in Appendix I of CITES and 100 in Appendix 11, 11 in the UICN list (eight vulnerable and three endangered species) and 46 in the Red Book of Vertebrates of Bolivia (LRVB). We observed many endangered species such as Ara glaucogularis, Ara militaris, Harpia harpyja, Panthera onca, Priodontes maximus, Chrysocyon brachyurus, Pteronura brasiliensis, Myrmecophaga tridactyla, Blastocerus dichotomus, Inia geoffrensis, Melanosuchus nigei; and Podocnemis expansa.This is the first study of the species richness in the RII and their endangerment. Further studies will identify an important number of additional species. Note: «Inmovilizada» means that, until the Government has determined the legal status of the area, the area is legally immobilized.
