dc.description.abstractImplantology is a fairly complete solution for people who have lost one or more teeth for different reasons. A narrative literature review was carried out to update information on some fundamental aspects, such as osseointegration concepts, metals in dental implantology, classification of dental implants, components of the dental implant system, bone density, and forces applied to the dental implant. The application of the dental implant is to support prostheses that imitate natural teeth, their functions being to support the chewing load repeatedly. This force, measured in Newtons per square centimeter, that is made by crushing food several times each day, or in stressful situations, is transmitted to the implant and through it to the surrounding bone.
