Carcinoma mucoepidermoide central: reporte de un caso

Abstract

Se presenta el caso clínico de un paciente que acudió a la Unidad de Estomatología y Cirugía Bucomaxilofacial del Hospital de Clínicas de La Paz, por dolor tipo urente y lesión ulcerosa en reborde alveolar mandibular izquierdo de aproximadamente 6 meses de evolución; fue sometido a biopsia excisional bajo anestesia general para su respectivo estudio histopatológico, mismo que reporta CARCINOMA MUCOEPIDERMOIDE CENTRAL. La baja frecuencia de esta entidad tumoral maligna motiva su presentación y revisión bibliográfica.

We present the case of a patient who consulted with the Unit of Stomatology and Bucomaxilofacial Surgery of the Hospital de Clínicas in La Paz. The patient referred burning pain and an ulcerous lesion on the left alveolar edge of the mandibula of approximately 6 months evolution. The patient was submitted to an excision biopsy under general anaesthesia for the respective histopathological examination. The result showed CENTRAL MUCOEPIDERMOID CARCINOMA. Given the low frequency of this malignant tumour, we were motivated to present this case with a bibliographic review.
