The frontal orientation of the prosthetic plane (PP) is important in the aesthetics of total edentulous patients. The parallelism among bilateral pupil line (LBP) and the anterior border of the plate of Fox is the reference used to get it. However, it is hard to reach such parallelism. Therefore, the objective of this research was to evaluate the feasibility of using the bilateral line earl lobe (LBL) for the frontal PP orientation, taking into account that both of them are parallel to each other. Hence, a traverse analytic exploratory research was conducted in the III Integral Clinic. 15 totally edentulous and facial symmetric patients were enrolled in the study. PP was established for all of them twice, taking as references: 1. LBP and 2. LBL. When projecting LBL over PP it was observed that 30% of the patients presented smaller values to 1 angulation’s degree, while 68% presented quite marked angulations. When projecting PP over LBL, it was clearly observed that the 61.6% of the patients presented angulations smaller than 1 degree. There is difference among the angulation’s averages, the LBL is smaller as well as the standard deviation. These results indicate a higher homogeneity in this group. Statistically significant differences were observed with an interval of 95% of confidence. Assuming that LBP is parallel with the LBL, the latter would be taken as an alternative reference to guide the frontal PP appropriately.
