The detection of metabolic changes in patients undergoing dental treatment is essential when it comes to periodontal disease.  The research objective was to determine the relationship between Type II Diabetes Mellitus and Chronic Periodontitis in thirteen patients diagnosed with type II diabetes at the  Humboldt Ambulatory of the Libertador Municipality, Merida, who underwent blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin tests to determine the level of  metabolic control of diabetes in addition to clinical  examinations to assess periodontal and radiographic periodontal status. It was observed that controlled diabetic patients have mild chronic periodontitis, while the uncontrolled diabetic chronic periodontitis had moderate to  severe. The results showed that there is a direct relationship between the metabolic control of type II Diabetes Mellitus and Chronic Periodontitis.
