Pérdida de sentido por las diferencias culturales en la traducción

Abstract

El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar si existe pérdida de sentido por las diferencias culturales, en la decodificación y comprensión de mensajes audiovisuales, en la traducción de la serie humorística de televisión "How I Met Your Mother" para jóvenes universitarios de la generación "Y" bilingües y no bilingües. A los fines de demostrar la pérdida de sentido en la recepción y en la traducción, se diseñó dos cuestionarios para los grupos focales. Además, se realizó un análisis semiótico, de discurso y actancial para complementar el estudio. Los dos grupos focales se conformó con un total de 12 personas, distribuidas en 7 y 5, con (Universidad 1) y sin (Universidad 2) conocimiento de inglés, respectivamente. Los resultados muestran que es real la pérdida de sentido en la traducción, y que una gran parte de los estudiantes reconoce que a pesar de que la decodificación del idioma inglés no es completa, es mejor ver la serie en el idioma original que con los subtítulos.

The aim of this study was to determine if loss of sense exists because of the cultural differences, in the decoding and comprehension of audio-visual messages, in the translation of the series of television "How I Met Your Mother" for university students of the generation "Y" bilingual and not bilingual. To the ends of demonstrating the loss of sense in the receipt and in the translation, two questionnaires were designed for the focal groups. In addition, a semiotic, discourse and actuarial analysis were performed to complement the study. The two focus groups are formed with 12 participants, distributed in seven and five, with (Universidad 1) and without (Universidad 2) knowledge of English, respectively. The results show that the loss of sense in the translation is real and that a large part of the students recognizes that although the English language decoding is not complete, it is better to see the series in the original language than with the subtitles.
