Educación ambiental y su contribución al cuidado y protección del ecosistema

Abstract

Durante los últimos años, el cuidado y protección ambiental ha despertado el interés de las organizaciones e individuos, uniendo esfuerzos por dicha causa. Bajo este contexto, desde la década de 1970 surge la educación ambiental como un instrumento para ayudar a concien tizar a los individuos sobre la problemática ambiental, procurando forjar desde los primeros años de escuela, mejores ciudadanos que reconozcan la importancia de cuidar el ecosistema para la sociedad actual y futura. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue comprender cómo la educación ambiental ha contribuido con el cuidado y protección ambiental; para cumplir ello, se ha efectuado una revisión exhaustiva de la literatura científica más reciente con respecto al tema de estudio. Se ha concluido que la educación ambiental cumple un rol fundamental en la sociedad y requiere de un trabajo especializado del docente para fomentar en sus estudiantes el sentido de cuidado y protección ambiental.

During the last years, the environmental care and protection have awakened the interest of companies and people, joining eíforts for this cause. In this context, since the 1970s Environmental Education has emerged as an instrument to help make people aware of environmental problems, trying to forge better citizens who recognize the importance of caring for the ecosystem for current and future society from the first years of school. The purpose of this research was to understand how Environmental Education has contributed to environmental care and protection; to accomplish this, an exhaustive review of the most recent scientific literature with respect to the topic of study has been carried out. It has been concluded that Environmental Education fulfills a fundamental role in society and requires specialized work by teachers to foster in their students a sense of environmental care and protection.
