Caracterización, Representación y Apropiación del Espacio. Un Recorrido por la Geografía en El Semanario Del Nuevo Reino de Granada, 1808-1810

Abstract

This text is intended to analyze some of the reports taken from the Nueva Granada weekly which refer to the geography of the neogranadino territory that were published between 1808 and 1810 by Francisco José de Caldas, in order to recognize the way in which a group of learned Creoles, through their scientific writing, represented, described and appropriate the place they were living in. To that effect, physical and human geography studies will be fundamental, the same way as maps, statistical charts and drawings that allowed the domination of this territory in the nineteenth century.
