dc.description.abstractA case of formaldehyde chronic intoxication is reported. The intoxicated person (47 years old) was a dissection technician in the Human Anatomy Section of the College of medicine of the Universidad de Los Andes, with 18 years working exposition to formaldehyde. The labour-physician analysis concluded: global brain-cortical atrophy mainly in the posterior frontal-temporal and left-parietal regions, partial epileptic reaction (illusive and affective psychosensorial crisis, signs of senile dementia, chronic rhinosinusitis (atopic rhinitis, severe deviation and iathrogenic perforation of rhinal septum, sinusitis and other pathologies. All these pathologies have reached a high progressive and irreversible degree of organ-functional compromise. The final diagnosis was Professional Disease due to Chronic Formaldehyde Intoxication. The person was declared with permanent and total incapacity
