Teatro universitario y teatro sin universidad

Abstract

El artículo revisa y analiza los orígenes, el desarrollo y el papel cumplido por el teatro universitario, tanto en relación con el ámbito general del teatro en Bolivia como en el contexto sociocultural y político del país. Lo hace comparando el auge teatral estudiantil de la primera década del siglo XXI con el tipo de propuestas desarrolladas en las décadas anteriores de la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Por otro lado, examina el rol de la universidad como entidad patrocinadora del teatro universitario, y termina cuestionando que, pese al reconocimiento de la importancia educativa de este campo artístico, las universidades no hayan pasado el límite de los talleres hacia una oferta de formación académica más formal.This article goes over and analyses the development of University Theater in Bolivia as well as the roll it accomplished related to the general theatrical activities and to the country's sociocultural and political context. The author compares the student theatre boom lived in the XXI century first decade with the theatre laid in the previous decades of the XXth century. On the other hand, she reviews the roll of universities as sponsor of university theatre and concludes wondering why, in spite of the acknowledged importance of this art form, universities in Bolivia didn't underwent from workshops to a theater academic career.
