Migraciones contemporáneas y transformaciones urbanas en una ciudad intermedia de Argentina

Abstract

El presente artículo explora la migración contemporánea en una ciudad intermedia de Argentina e indaga sobre los modos particulares de integración urbana y social de la población migrante y las tensiones que suscita su presencia. Desde una metodología cualitativa, en primer lugar, se reconstruyen en clave histórica las transformaciones urbanas y poblacionales de la ciudad de Rafaela a partir de las diversas dinámicas migratorias. En segundo lugar, se reflexiona sobre las posibilidades y dificultades de la migración reciente para vivir en la ciudad desde su llegada hasta la actualidad. El trabajo realizado busca romper con las barreras que se han establecido, informalmente, dentro de las investigaciones sobre las migraciones, que separan aquellas provenientes del exterior de las que se originan al interior del país.This article explores contemporary migration in an intermediate city in Argentina and investigates the particular modes of urban and social integration of the migrant population and the tensions raised by their presence. Using a qualitative methodology, firstly, it reconstructs the urban and population transformations of the city of Rafaela from a historical perspective, based on the different migratory dynamics. Secondly, it reflects on the possibilities and difficulties of recent migrants living in the city, from arrival to the present day. The work seeks to break down the barriers that have been informally established in research on migration that separate those coming from abroad from those originating in the interior of the country.
