Abstract
Abstract The chemical composition of the essential oils obtained from two species of the Piperaceae, Piper heterophyllum and P. aduncum growing in the province of Cochabamba, in the high valley region of Bolivia, was determined by a combination of GC and GC-MS measurements. The composition of the oils from P. heterophyllum and two of the three samples of P. aduncum was dominated by the monoterpenes: 1,8-cineole (40 %), pinenes (α - + β -: 15 %), and β-ocimene (cis + trans : 9 %). Asaricine (9%) is also among the main constituents.
