Abstract
Summary.
Pulmonary blood volume in NHL is comparable to that in sea level residents.
In resting NHL, pulmonary hypertension is best explained by, structural changes
in pulmonary vessels. In NHL, exercise elicits a pulmonary vasoconstriction which is probably due to mixed venous hypoxaemia superimposed upon alveolar hypoxia.
