La reivindicación de la oratoria epidíctica: Pernot y la retórica del elogio.

Abstract

El proposito de este articulo es presentar los aportes realizados por Laurent Pernot en el campo de la oratoria epidictica, genero que, a partir de la division aristotelica, ha suscitado controversias relativas a su desvinculacion de los intereses politicos. En tanto que actualmente los estudiosos han reivindicado la funcion institucional del epitafio y el panegirico, Pernot se concentra en el elogio, al cual atribuye una importante contribucion en la vida social y cultural de la epoca imperial. Starting from the Aristotelian division of the three kinds of rhetoric and the relegation of epideictic oratory from political issues, several critics had vindicated the institutional functions of the epitaphios and panegyric discourses. The purpose of this paper is to comment the contribution of Laurent Pernot about the development and sociocultural functions of the encomium during the Imperial epoch.
