Background: Nasoalveolar molding is a presurgical therapy for early cleft care. Despite the reported controversies about its efficacy, it is a useful presurgical option for treating patient infants with cleft lip and palate. However, some questions regarding the association of socioeconomic status and demographics of families and the success or failure of NAM therapy remain unanswered. Purpose: The study aims to analyze the association of caregivers’ psychological and socioeconomic status and demographics with the success or failure of NAM presurgical therapy of infant patients with CLP. Methods: A systematic review was carried out in Elsevier (via Science Direct), Medline (via Pubmed), Wiley Online Library, Europe PMC, SagePub, SpringerLink, Taylor & Francis, Biblioteca Virtual de Salud (via BIREME), and Scholar Google to identify clinical and observational studies published in full text in the last 10 years. Results: the included studies allow us to affirm that the socioeconomic, psychological, and demographic factors of the caregivers influence the successful completion of presurgical nasoalveolar molding therapy for infants with LPH. Conclusions: From the knowledge of these factors, success could be predicted, which suggests intervening on them to create the minimum necessary conditions that guarantee the success of NAM therapy.
