Problem solving skills and indicators of stress and anxiety were assessed between 35 formal caregivers of elderly who work in nursing staff in long-term care institutions. The majority of the sample had adaptive styles of problem solving and good indicators of emotional health. However, a negative attitudinal orientation to the problem and maladaptive styles of problem solving (Impulsivity/Careless) correlated positively with the presence of anxiety, corroborating previous studies with informal caregivers.
