Stem cells are clonogenic cells with extensive self-renewing potential, which makes them very useful for dentists in periodontal ligament regeneration and dental papilla procedures, including alveolar bone and dentin regeneration. These cells are preserved using a method called cryopreservation. Before implantation into the body, it is necessary to prepare clonogenic cells on a scaffold, which will nourish and differentiate them into the required cell type. In the future these cells could eventually form a fully functional tooth.
