FACTORES QUE DETERMINAN EL USO DE GEOSINTÉTICOS EN PROYECTOS DE PAVIMENTACIÓN EN COLOMBIA

Abstract

The 70’s marked the beginning of the use of synthetic materials based on polymers in the field of the world’s civil engineering. Its development in pavementing works are specializing progressively full filling with functions like reinforcement, stabilization, drainage and filler. Since 80’s, Colombian engineer has come using these materials and their use have been massively diffusing in most of pavimenting projects in the country. This article presents a research about employment conditions of geosynthetics in the world and in Colombia. Too taking into account conditions market, technology and knowledge conditions in the Colombian field, were analyzed some factors that control the usage of these materials in the country. The study let’s identify the importance of including these materials in the methodologies of pavements’ structural design and the necessity for creating a culture about of efficiency use through the researching and the academy.
