Introduction: Platelet concentrates contain high amounts of growth factors that stimulate biological functions, facilitating bone regeneration. Despite the abundance of related studies, no information was found that gathered the use of PRP, PRF and PRGF in a single investigation, so the aim of this systematic review is to describe the effectiveness of platelet concentrates for bone regeneration in oral surgery and periodontal treatment. Methodology: The information sources used were Medline, Elsevier, Springer, SciELO, Virtual Health Library (VHL), Hindawi, Dialnet, Google Scholar, Acta Odontologica Venezolana and Revista Odontologica de Los Andes. Studies published between 2000 and 2015 were also included, discarding animal studies. Results: The analysis of the literature was based on 75 articles: 10 clinical trials, 10 systematic reviews, 6 cases-control studies, 6 clinical cases, 16 comparative studies, 17 literature reviews and 10 studies in vitro. According to the type of biomaterial used, 35 investigations of PRP, 15 in PRF and 8 about PRGF were identified. The study confirms that the PRP, PRF and PRGF are effective biomaterials for bone regeneration in oral surgery and for periodontal treatment. Conclusion: The osteoinductive properties of concentrates promote bone regeneration and its clinical use is recommended as a valid protocol for bone recovering in oral surgery and periodontal treatment.
