Efectividad del propóleo en tratamientos pulpares de pulpotomía y pulpectomía. Revisión sistemática.

Abstract

Propolis is one of the bee products of greatest importance for the man, their properties and uses in the treatment of various diseases. In dentistry, endodontics in the area of propolis has been used as irrigating, intracanal medication and applied directly to the exposed pulp; however, some results are contradictory. The objective of this review is to analyze the Recibido: effectiveness of propolis in the pulp pulpotomy and pulpectomy treatments as an alternative to use of other drugs. The search was conducted with the formulation of keywords and research in the electronic databases Medline, EBSCOhost and Scielo. a) descriptive clinical studies, comparative controlled b) Analytical studies randomized and c) studies in experimental animals group: in vivo studies that met the following criteria were selected. Scale was used as evidence Sackett to assess the methodological quality of clinical studies and to analyze the quality of animal studies copilada list by Sniekers criteria was used. 506 articles analyzed included 16 of these 9 were performed in humans and experimental animals 7. The analysis of studies demonstrates the need for further research to establish the effectiveness of propolis in pulpectomies and pulpotomies. Additionally, test results of acute and chronic toxicity in experimental animals are required, before proposing the use of propolis in endodontic treatments in humans.
