dc.description.abstractThis article offers a reinterpretation of the process of the incorporation of Ecuadorian cocoa to the world market between 1840-1925. This revision uses concepts developed by the Italian economist Giovanni Arrighi: nominal incorporation, peripheral incorporation and non-peripheral incorporation. By their means, the article examines the variety of linkages that developed between the center and the periphery and within the periphery itself. More specifically, two moments of this process
