Abstract
Abstract The so-called O Third World front that identified Venezuelan diplomacy during the government of Rafael Caldera (1969-1974) and that was deepened during that of Carlos Andres Perez (1974-1979) will decline during the decade (1979-1989), which corresponded to the governments of Luis Herrera Campins and Jaime Lusinchi. This was due to the crisis produced by external debt and the political disaffection proper to the 1980s, which made it be called “the lost decade.” This decline did not forestall the active diplomacy of Venezuela against the opprobrious apartheid regime, concern with the Namibian crisis, and the establishment of bilateral relations.
