Abstract

Summary. Blood fibrinolytic activity in bolivian people living at high altitude (3600 m.) and french people living at sea level, was compared at rest and after venostasis and physical exercise. This comparison was based on the euglobulin lysis time. At rest there was no significant difference between people living at sea level or at high altitude. However, the fibrinolytic response to venostasis and physical exercise was reduced at high altitude and more markedly in the highlands natives. This fibrinolytic hyporeactivity seemed to be an adaptative precess to the life at high altitude.
