Abstract

The piercing is defined as a jewel or adornment placed in openings created in different areas of the body, which can cause different pathological conditions. Due to the disoriented use and its increasing popularity in recent times, this research aims to describe the level of information that users have in the dining room of La Liria of the University of Los Andes on possible alterations associated with the use of oral piercings and Periorals. The technique of data collection will be done directly from the environment where the events occur, and as a tool will be used a mixed questionnaire, consisting of seven items; On the level of information about complications of oral and perioral piercings. It was found that a high percentage of people have knowledge about what a piercing is and consider that its use is associated with infections or diseases, likewise, it is evidenced that people who wear or have ever worn piercing and those who No, they agree that the establishments do not comply with adequate hygiene measures, although none of these factors represent an impediment to the perforation for the use of piercing. It is necessary to make it clear in society in general about the health risks that these procedures imply and to emphasize that the sanitary control of the country regulates in all the autonomous communities this habitual practice, demanding the fulfillment of the legal and sanitary requirements of both the Professional staff that dedicates to the placement of the piercing as of the centers of assistance.
