Emulsions are polidisperse system in which an oil (or water) phase is dispersing in water (or oil) as continuous phase. To obtain emulsions with low polidisperity in droplet size distribution, one of the most important factors is the mechanical shear introduced in the oil/water/surfactant system to produce the emulsion. The main objective of this project is to produce a fluid mini mill, which is coupled to mechanical components such as small flow pumps, pipes and fittings. Also, the project studied how different components affect the droplet size of the emulsion. The methodologies used were QFD (Quality Function Deployment) and Analysis of Alternatives to select the type of fluid mill. The prototype was designed using Manufacturing Design and CAD programs. Then, the manufacturing process starts in the laboratory of Mechanical Technology using machine tools. Later, the prototype was assembled and tested in the laboratory. Finally, the prototype obtained a small and uniform drop size
