Abstract
The present study evaluated the effectiveness of a didactic tool called Color Vowel Chart which seeks
to facilitate the learning process of standard American English vowel sounds through the association
of a color and a keyword with a specifi c sound. This was correlational study in which 14 students who
were enrolled in the English I course at University of the Andes, Campus “Rafael Rangel” participated
by completing a pre-test and a post-test. The test was made up with two parts integrating 15 items.
After analyzing data, it was concluded that the use of Color Vowel Chart as a didactic resource for
learning English pronunciation can improve the experience for students and at the same time improve
their language acquisition process.
