Abstract
Por mucho tiempo ha existido la idea de que los países con grandes reservas de recursos naturales tienen una gran ventaja con respecto a países con escasos recursos naturales. Sin embargo, el presente estudio muestra que dicha abundancia y la exportación creciente de los recursos naturales no conlleva necesariamente a un crecimiento económico del país "aventajado", ya que esta abundancia debería estar acompañada de un marco institucional de buena calidad que aliente el intercambio y la producción, en detrimento de actividades redistributivas.
For a long time there has been a belief that countries with great reserves of natural resources have a great advantage respect to countries with limited natural resources. Nevertheless the present study shows that this abundance and the increasing export of the natural resources does not entail necessarily to an economic growth of "the surpassed" country, instead the abundance would have to be accompanied of an institutional frame of good quality that encourages the interchange and the production in detriment of redistributive activities.
