Análisis de vulnerabilidad y aspectos geológicos influyentes en los sucesos del año 2005 en el Valle del Mocotíes Estado Mérida

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the vulnerabilities and threats from physical, natural and some caused by human intervention, which prevailed in the Mocoties valley events in the Year 2005. The author undertakes a comprehensive study of factors affecting Mocoties river basin, the basin characteristics of instability in their slopes due to a series of correlated dynamic geological processes such as: the lithologic desintegrated material by the prevailing climatic conditions, the slope’s floor, flux of mud, gravity actions, slips, collapses, increase of the precipitations that saturated the floors and made more heavy the same floors, the erosion of the tracks and carcavas, constant seismic movements in the area, as result of the Bocono system fault and the others historically relaited faults that had affected the region through the seismic activity all that had modeled the morphology of the zone, the changes in the dreinage net, anyway other factors able to change abruptly the relief. The methodology used was based on the direct observation in the field, studying the different geologic and geomorphologic units that operated and affected the area, which allows the vulnerability analysis joined to a construction of vulnerability culture.
